HALE AT A HUNDRED
A man who in' 1861 was three times rejected by the recruiting officers for the Northern Army in the American Civil War because he was considered sickly recently celebrated his 100 th birthday at Wampsville, New York. He is Mr. John Smith. On his 100 th birthday he was entertained by 57 relatives, to whom he proudly announced, " I'm the biggest kid here."
