HERMIT SISTERS PARTED
Two sisters named Shoveller, both over 80, who lived for many years a hermitlike existence in a cliff-top house near the sea at Southbourne, Bournemouth, were parted lately by the death of the elder, aged 82. Three weeks previously they were removed to a nursing home, after the younger had been found lying helpless with a broken thigh by the bedside of her sister, who had been bedridden for 25 years. The sisters never went out, and even wrote notes to the tradesmen rather than see and speak to them. The surviving sister is inconsolable.
