OPENED AT.NORTHCOTE The spring fair of St. John's Anglican Church at Northcote was opened yesterday afternoon in the parish hall by the Mayoress. Mrs. R. Martin. The vicar, the Rev. F. W. Wilkes, said the expenditure in connection with the church had been cut down to a minimum. Even that great convenience, and at other times the "greatest nuisance of all" —the telephone, had been eliminated. St. John's endeavoured to be as cosmopolitan as possible in its social activities, in support of which statement he instanced the free use of the hall during the year for the purpose of the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts, nothing being asked towards the lighting of the hall, lie thanked all who had worked for several months past toward making the fair a success. The Mayor, Mr. R. Martin, also wished the fair success, and congratulated tho various workers on the array of articles for disposal. The stallholders were: Guild stall. Mesdames A.
