CADET EFFICIENCY
KING'S COLLEGE CORPS COLONEL DUIGAN'S TRIBUTE A high tributo to the efficiency and deportment of tho King's College cadet battalion was paid by Colonel J. E. Duigan, officer commanding the Northern Command, who inspected tho cadets at Middlemore yesterday afternoon. Colonel Duigan was accompanied by Major E. I'uttick, Major R. Miles, and Captain 11. X. Judson, V.C. There was a. large number of parents and friends present. The, inspecting party arrived while the cadets were being exercised in Lewis gun and signalling drill and Colonel Duigan visited each platoon and personally called upon cadets to assemble and dismantle the guns, and transmit messages by semaphore flagging. Platoon drill was carried out under tho direction of Major V. F. Maxwell, officer commanding the cadet battalion, and his officers, Coptain A. H. Hunt, and Lieutenant 11. P. Lusk. Massed physical drill was undertaken under the. command of the cadet non-commissioned officers. Colonel Duigan took the salute in the march past. In addressing tho cadets, Colonel Duigan said 110 found a marked improvement 011 (he high standard of efficiency which he had been pleased to note last year, "Your deportment and drill movements are excellent, and I doubt if even tho fine public school companies in England could show us anything better than you havo given us this afternoon," said Colonel Duigan. Appreciation of tho fino qualities shown by the cadets was not. confined to those with a knowledge of drill efficiency, as I.ho public had shown its hearty appreciation of the cadets when they appeared, on tile King's Birthday. lie, urged tho cadets to remember, they were King's cadets from King's College with a duty to keep before them tho good name of their school.
