ASSOCIATION NEWS

A very pleasant afternoon spent at outdoor games was held at the home of Mrs. 11. B. Burnett- recently, in aid of the Y.M.C.A. Clock golf, ladder golf, clock croquet, quoits, skittles and deck tennis were played, and over a hundred keen competitors were present. The bright, sunny afternoon in the midst of a week of dreary weather was cause for much congratulation. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Burnett and a band of ladies. A humorous recitation by Mrs. J. Tool, and dancing on the lawn were greatly appreciated by all present. At the conclusion, Mrs. A. D. Campbell, president of the Y.W.C.A. expressed appreciation of the support given, and suggested that some ladies might be interested to become members of the association. Mrs. Campbell also voiced the thanks of the association to Mrs. Burnett, the performers, and all others who had assisted. The Girl Citizens of the Y.W.C.A. held a very delightful week-end camp at the Y.W.C.A. Holiday House, Blockhouse Bay. The theme of the camp was "Alice in Wonderland," and all the inhabitants were changed into characters from the wonderful story. Miss Audrey McCrea, who has recently returned from abroad, was camp director, and ail campers gained much from her talks of camps in other countries and from her experience in work with girls. A graduation community gathering was held by the Girl Citizens of the Y.W.C.A. in the Assembly Hall on Thursday. The hall was attractively decorated with pink rambler roses and oak leaves and candle light was used during the ceremony. The new chief citizen, Grace Moore, was installed in office, and 10 senior citizens graduated into the senior membership of the federated clubs. The talk was given by Miss D. M. Lynn, chief counsellor of the Auckland community. After the community gathering ceremony the Dramatic Club presented "Oliver's Island," from ''Make Believe" (A. A. Milne).
