WORK FOR FOUNDRY
ORDERS SOUGHT FOR THAMES NONE COMING FROM RAILWAYS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES, Tuesday The borough commissioner, Mr. C. L. Grange, has received a letter from Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., stating he had -made representations to the Railway Department concerning the desire of A. and G. Price, Limited, to obtain an order for the construction of steam buses. "Although I made the strongest possible representations on behalf of the foundry-work people concerned and tho town generally, I regrot that my efforts were not successful," said Mr. Samuel. "Little or no encouragement is given for work of this kind in the near future. I made a further pica for other work for this firm, but was informed that at present there was insufficient for the railway workshops' own staffs." Mr. Samuel said he had made representations to tho Unemployment Board in the matter, and they had been sympathetically received. The. deputy-chair-man, Mr. J. S. .Tessep, had promised that the board would render assistance where possible.
