It was reported that a benefit matinee and evening performance given by one of the picture theatres had resulted in a welcome addition to the association's finances. Efforts were being made to cooperate with the work of the St. John Ambulapco Association, the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, the Social Workers' Council and other kindred organisations. In the office of the Horn® Service Association August had been a veiy busy month, and it had been possible to supply over 50 employers with the various kinds of help needed by them. Calls from the Waikato, Bay of Islands and other country districts had been answered successfully. The association had been able to find positions for many kinds of workers, including dressmakers, packers, knitters, women motor-drivers, demonstrator, supper attendant and other more usual types. The committee felt that much valuable work was being done through the office of the Home Service Association in relieving unemployment among women and girls, and that every effort should be made to ensure its permanence and to enlarge its sphere of usefulness in the community.
