COUNTRY DANCE FESTIVAL
ENTERTAINMENT BY GUIDERS The successful attempts which are being made to revive the old English country dancing have the enthusiastic support of the Guiders of the Auckland Girl Guide Association, who held their third annual country dance festival in )3cots Hall last evening. The girls were in costume, some wearing the quaint long frocks and others the smocks, red kerchiefs and widebrimmed hats of the men. The dances, which have been learned at company meetings, were gracefully, executed, and the happy, carefree spirit which is usually associated with the pastime was well in evidence with the performers, and made the entertainment a thoroughly enjoyable one. A large number of commissioners, parents and friends were seated on the stage and in the gallery to watch the performance, Miss Ruth Roberton, captain*of the Awliina Rangers, Ponsonby, and Miss Melba Whittaker, captain of the Tahuri Rangers, Eden, were in charge of the programme, and supper was provided by the district executive members.
