MUSTERERS' DISPUTE
NO AGREEMENT ON WAGES FAILURE OF CONCILIATION [by telegbaph—press association] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday After Concilation Council proceedings to-day, the dispute over wages and working conditions of musterers remained unsettled' the council being unable to reach an agreement. The employers offered £2 5s weekly and found, and the union asked £3 17s 6d. For tlio employers, it was argued that the costs of mustering at the wages claimed were more than sheepfarmers could/ pay out of the present prices of wool. Even the wages offered were higher than the returns would warrant. A motion to refer the dispute to the Arbitration Court was rejected.
