SPEED-BOAT CAPSIZES
RESCUE OF OCCUPANTS MR. KAYE DON'S TRIAL RUN DETROIT, Sept. 1 Four of the six members of the Harmsworth Trophy Race Committee were thrown into Lake St. Clair to-day when their speed boat capsized while travelling at a rate of 45 miles an hour. They were rescued as they clung to the overturned boat. The six men, including Captain Charles D. Brown, Toronto, the Canadian representative of Lord Wakefield, were returning to the shore after watching Mr. Kaye Don pilot Miss England 111. over a trial run when their boat controls jammed 600 yds. from the land. The boat capsized in choppy water. Captain Brown was knocked unconscious, but was pulled to the overturned boat bv the others. A .cruiser put out to the rescue. Mr. Don piloted Miss England 111. through rough water in the last trial run before the race. The first heat will take place on Saturday at 6.30 a.m. The boat threw a 15ft. wash into the air as it bounced along. The time was not taken in view of the conditions. One pf the spectators was Mr. Gar Wood, whose 48-cylinder Miss America X. will defend the trophy. Mr. Wood has not yet tried out tho Lake St. Clair course.
