REMOVAL OF DUTIES
federal government MOTION BEFORE PARLIAMENT CANBERRA. Sept. 2 The Assistant Minister of Customs, Mr. J. A. Perkins, introduced in the House of Representatives to-day a motion providing for a reduction in the customs tariff duty on 23 classes of goods, and the removal of special duties fiom 17, lines of goods. Ho said the alterations were made on the recommendation of the Tariff Board. Action was being taken to revoke the proclamation of the Scullin Government and the prohibitions on the importation of 78 lines of good's. The restriction with respect to 54 of these was removed last, session, and now tho Government had lifted the remainder. The Government had I also exempted many classes of goods from the primage duty.
