.Dr. Holland, an American scientist, recently completed the manuscript of tho second edition of his " Book on all the Butterflies of pie United States and Canada," on his*B2nd birthday. Florence Barclay's " The Rosary " has been selling steadily since it appeared in 1909. Now an unpublished novel written when she was in her 23rd year is being issued. It has been prepared for publication by her literary executor. Tho title is " Guy Mervvn." M. Abel Bonnard, poet, novelist and essayist, has been elected member of the " Academie Francaise," France's chamber of 40 " immortals." M. Bonnard, who holds in France a status equivalent to that of the poet laureate in England, is well known in European literary circles for such works as " The Royalties," " FriendI ship," "In Praise of Ignorance," manv books of travel.
" Love's Service " is Miss Margaret Peterson's 37th novel, all written in 20 years. She spent most of her youth in 'lndia, hut went to England in her girlhood to earn a living. She became in turn nursemaid, companion, programme-seller, waitress, typist and envelope-addresser. Later she lived for some years in Africa, where her husband, Mr. A. 0. Fisher, was a Government official.
