PASSAGES FOR ADVERTISERS The late Mr. C. E. Montague, in "Fiery Particles," tells of tho advertising man who used Shakespeare to advertise everything under the sun. "Let me have men about mo that are fat" (Froud's Fast Filling Breakfast Foods) ; "Not china dishes, but very good dishes" (Wild's War Saving Dinner Stoneware); "Tell me, where is fancy bred?" (for a Viennese baker). The Observer, London, now quotes Shakespeare on the motor-car :—- "Whence is this knocking?" ("Macbeth," 11.. '2). "Will this gear ne'er be mended?" ("Troilus and Cresaida," 1., l.h "Thou has wore out thy pump" ("Romeo and Juliet," 11., 4). "How tho wheel becomes it!" ("Hamlet," IV.. 5). "And here an engine fit for my proceeding" ("Two Gentlemen of Verona." 111.. 1). "You shall see how I handle her" ("Measure for Measure." V., ]). "To. climb steep hills requires slow pace at first," ("Henry VIII.," 1., I). "<y most wicked speed" ("Hamlet," 1., 2). "How dost thou know that constable?" ("Measure for Measure," 11., 1). "This Lapwing ruus away with the Shell!' ("Hamlet," V., 2). "Give mo Swift for transportation ("Troilus and Cressida," 111., 2). "Which.of you know Ford of this town? ("Merry Wives of Windsor," 1., 3).
