MUSICAL RECORDS
Hawaiian music exerts an irresistible appeal and. admirers of the melodious airs of the tropics will find much to please them in " Good-bye Hawaii ' and " Dreams That Remind me of Yoii" played by the South Sea Islanders on a Regal disc. Two very interesting instrumental numbers have just been recorded by the Regal Novelty Orchestra —" The Glowworm " and " Dancds of the Honeybees,' and it would be difficult to imagine these pretty numbers more beautifully played or recorded. A record that should appeal to thousands is a two-piano driet by Major and Minor, a Regal combination, that gives us " Kitten on the Keys" and " Dizzy Fingers " in this month's releases. The artists display an amazing dexterity and the recording is particularly brilliant. " A Spot of Income Tax Bother" is the title of Claphain and Dwyer's latest laughter-making disc. It might well be regarded as the funniest piece of fooling these inimitable entertainers have yet perpetuated. The subject does not sound biimofous to a taxpayer, but wo can assure all and sundry that it is—at least as dealt with by Mr. Clapham and Mr. Dwyer. You won't soon get tired of it.
Many will remember " Old Sam " and his quaint North Country humour, and it is a Veal pleasure to hear the latest effort by "Old Sam's" creator, Stanley HolloWay. The riew Columbia record gives on ono side the tragi-comic adventures of " The Lion and Albert," whilst the reverso is occupied \vith a diversion by a Lancashire tradesman and Noah, regarding the price of a bit of timber for the Ark—to wit, "Three Ha'pence a. Foot." The very drollery of these two items will raise laughs galore.
The third of Debvoy Somers' " Stealing Through the Classics " series is sure to* be popular, as it includes tasty morsels from 18 standard overtures that won their popularity mainly through merit. DebrOy Somers and his band play in their best concert manner. The overtures played are these: (1) "Light Cavalry' (Suppe), " Leonore No. 3" (Beethoven), "Merry Wives of Windsor'' (Nicolai), " Rienzi " (Wagner), " Zampa " (Herold), "Light Cavalry V (Suppe), " Fra. Diavolo'' (Auber), "Bohemian Girl" (Balfe), " Oberon " (Weber). "William Tell " (Rossini). (2) " Tannhauser " (Wagner), " Ruy Bias" (Mendelssohn), " Poet and Peasant " (Suppe), " Morning, Noon and Night" (Suppe), " Rosamunde " (Schubert), " Masaniello ber), "Raymond" (Thomas), "1812 (Tchaikovsky).
