RIDING IN ROTTEN ROW

THREE WORKING GIRLS HOW IT IS MANAGED Here is the story of three business girls in London who just had to ride in Rotten Row—even if that is a costly affair. Every morning they may be seen enjoying in turn their morning canter in company with the most distinguished people in the land. After their ride they change quickly into business attire, and travel by tube or bus to start the day's work. One of the girls has revealed how she was able to indulge in this costly hobby. "In the ordinary way." she said, "the Row is quite out of the reach of the average business girl. A rich woman can spend about £2O a week 011 the luxury of a morning ride. This is more than I earn in a month. But, I made up my mind that the Row should not be the exclusive property of stage stars and rich heiresses. "A few months ago the other girls and myself decided to club together and buy our own horse. We saved up and bought one for £SO. Then we rented a small stable near Marble Arch. We take it in turns and have an hour's ride each."

The girls all go up to Town from different parts of the suburbs, already dressed in riding kit. They carry their business dresses in a case.

Part of their stable is rigged up as a dressing room, so that they can change after the ride and hurry off to business. "Riding is marvellous recreation," the spokesman of the three added, "and I would like to see the Row cram-full of business girls. It only costs us about 15s each a week to maintain the horse and stable."
