NORTHCOTE UNEMPLOYED
BENEFIT ENTERTAINMENT
An entertainment for the benefit of the Northcote Unemployed Association was provided in the King s Theatre, Northcote, by the pupils of Miss Ebba Gunman. The bright costumes of the numerous performers made a colourful stage spectacle. The operetta, " The Sun Bonnet Girl," was a pleas : ng production, the principal parts being taken by Misses Sybil Hartigan, Blanche Davey, Hilda Dunn, Peggy Brennan, Hilda Burgess, Joyce Howland, Alys Dowsing, Jean Skerrett, and Messrs. Ivan Dunn, Douglas Sharpe, Jack Gunman and J. Hartigan. The concert programme included songs by Misses Bona Brennan, Rata Shaw, Matie Ungemuth, Pixie Norris, Dawn James, Sybil Fielder, Maylo James, Patty Hurley, Doreen Dunn, Joan Borrows, Sybil Hartigan, and recitations by Misses Maylo James, Heather Crawford and Dawn James. In addition there were chorus numbers by the full company and little ones, and a toe dance and Hungarian dance by the senior girls. Mrs. A. J. Hurley was the accompaniste. The president of the association, Mr. D. E. La Roche, convoyed the thanks of the members to Miss E. Gunman and her band of helpers, and stated that the proceeds amounted to £B. The funds would be applied in providing relief to the most needy cases.
