ENGLISH CRICKETERS

TOUR OF THE DOMINIONS DULEEPSINHJI REPLACED LONDON, Aug. 31 It is officially announced that in view of K. S. Duleepsinhji's illness, E. Paynter (Lancashire) has been added to the English team to go to Australia and New Zealand.

Duleepsinhji will not be able to sail on September 17, but it is hoped that he will be able to join the team later. Paynter's choice is a surprise. Most of the critics expected E. Tyldesley (Lancashire) to be chosen if another batsman were needed, or James Langridge (Sussex) if an all-rounder were required. Paynter, who will be 30 years old in November, is slightly built, and a good fieldsman, but fails to suggest great confidence when he goes to the wicket, where he has a rather cramped stance. He is a strong hitter when set, and opened for Lancashire "this season, so he may be Sutcliffe's partner.
