SPEED IN THE AIR
AMERICAN'S NEW RECORD OVER 293 MILES AN HOUR NEW YORK, Aug. 31 At Cleveland, Ohio, Major James Doolittle flew a racing low-wing monoplane at an average speed of 293.193 miles an hour and created a new unofficial world's land aeroplane record at the national air races to-day.
