CHILLED BEEF

AUSTRALIAN EXPERIMENT •; TRIAL SHIPMENT TO LONDON An experiment of considerable importance to the beef industry of Australia is. to be made shortly. The management oi the Aberdeen Freezing Works, at Muswellbrook, intends to make a trial shipment of chilled beef to London, and preparations for its special handling and shipping are practically complete. The meat will be loaded at Sydney. The shipment is a small one, in view of the uncertainty of the success of thtf experiment, but every care is being taken to see that it arrives in the best possible condition. The cost of steamer freight will be high, as the transport of beef at chilling temperatures will necessitate the provision of a special compartment on board. However, the meat, if successfully delivered in London, would realise prices that would more than compensate for the extra freight and charges.
