A SMALL HOLDING

Sir, —May I have a few lines to ventilate an injustice. An old man 91 years had a small place, without a road to get out what ho grew. While he could pull a boat ho lived and hoped on his little block of land, where he had spent years. He took a slight stroke, and had to leave his all, through the Government putting up tho valuation out of all bounds. Tho place can be bought'now for hundreds less and is let. at 5s per week. Through this valuation ho lost his old age pension. I tried to get this back but tho reply, was that the value of the property was more than the value aljowed for the old age pension. lit the meantime the rates are piling up and tho place going hack to nature. There were seven acres of apple orchard on it onre. J. W. Sycamore. Waiuku.
