COLLISION WITH MOTOR-CAR AWARD OF £1684 SOUGHT DEFENDANT DENIES NEGLIGENCE [FROM OUII OWN COBHESI'ONOENT] HAMILTON, Thursday Damages totalling £1684 woiq claimed from tho Alfa-Laval Separator Company (N.Z.), Limited, by Llewellyn Edmonds, carpenter, Hamilton, before Air. Justice Smith in tho Hamilton Supreme Court today. Tho action was a sequel to a collision which occurred in Ward Street, Hamilton, on November 23, when it was alleged that Edmonds was knocked off his bicycle by a car driven by Leslie John Hall, a salesman employed by the defendant company. In his statement of claim, plaintiff alleged that tho collision was caused by tho failure of Hall to keep a proper lookout, and his failure to givo way to plaintiff's bicycle approaching on his right.

Plaintiff also alleged that Hall failed to givo warning of his approach and drove his car negligently and at an excessive speed. As a result of the accident plaintiff said lie suffered a fracture of the skull, injuries to tho scalp and abrasions. He said he was still suffering from the effects of shock, concussion and injuries, and lie claimed £ISOO general damages and £lB4 special damages. The defence was a general denial of responsibility of tho accident and an allo-

gation of contributory ncg'igenco on tho part of plaintiff. Plaintiff gave evidence detailing tho cir cumstances of tho accident, and the caso was adjourned till to-morrow.
