INTERESTS OF UNIONS NATIONAL POLICY SOUGHT A meeting called by the executive of the Auckland Carpenters' Union to consider the possible effects on unions of the recent amendments to the Arbitration Act concerning the building industry, was held in the Trades Hall on Wednesday evening, representatives of eight workers' organisations involved in the industry being present. The meeting carried a motion stating that the federations and the separate unions in the building industry throughout New Zealand should bo asked if they are willing to send delegates to a conference in Wellington to discuss the formation of a national building trades' federation and a common policy for the industry with regard to future awards and agreements.
