CHEAP JAPANESE GOODS INCREASE IN THE DUTY (Received August 31. 7,5 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Aug. 30 The Government of India, mainly as the result of the abnormal importation at low prices of Japanese goods owing to the depreciation of the yen, has increased the import duty on cotton piece goods, not of British manufacture, from 20 to 50 per cent ad valorem.
