DECISION TO CLOSE.

750 EMPLOYES INVOLVED

The New South Wales Government has decided to close the State coal mine at Litligow. This involves the dismissal of 750 employees. The Premier, Mr. B. S. Stevens, says the cost of producing coal from thie mine is about 5s a ton greater than that from private collieries. The Government thus would save nearly £IOO,OOO a year. He was hopeful that the miners would bo absorbed in private collieries.
