Sydney Ferries, Limited, has been refused permission to continue the vehicle ferry service between Port Macquario and .Mil.son's Point on trial after the opening of the bridge. The service ceased at midnight last Saturday, wh;Mi the bridge was thrown open to vehicle traffic, despite protests that it might be found necessary to augment the bridgo facili ties. Tlic secretary of the Sydney Harbour Trust informed Sydney Ferries, Limited, that the Commissioners had two reasons for refusing permission, namely (a) that other means of communication had been provided by the Government, which would give nil the facilities required by the public; and (b) that the opening of tho bridge afforded ail opportunity for eliminating the risk to navi gation, involved in the crossing by tho vehicle ferries of the traffic in and out of tho port and other ferry traffic. About 100 men have been thrown out of employment by the I'essation of the service, in addition to 102 men who have been given notice as n result of the impending withdrawal of the Milson's Point passengpr service.
