MAORI FOUND DEAD.
BODY BY RAILWAY LINE. FATALITY AT PANMURE. The body of a Maori Labourer, Roni Ahomiro, aged 30. of Jericho Road, Panmure, was found by the side of the railway lino near St. Heliers Bay Road, Panmure, at 4 a.m. yesterday. It is presumed that the deceased was struck by the limited express from Auckland to Wellington on the previous evening.
Mr. Ahomiro attended the Auckland Racing Club's meeting at Ellerslie on Monday and ho was last seen at Panmure between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ho was then proceeding to his home, where he lived with his wife and three children. It was his custom to walk to his house along a track which crossed the railway lino at a point where his body was found. Mr. Ahomiro received injuries to the head, back and liips, and it is thought that death was instantaneous. Tho discovery was made by the driver of a goods train.
Evidence of identification was given at an inquest which was opened yesterday before tiie coroner, Mr. E. C. Cuttcn, S.M., the inquiry being adjourned.
