BRILLIANT BATSMAN.
WEST INDIAN'S FINE RECORD. The West Indies cricketer, G. Headley, is showing great form against Lord Tennyson's English (rain, at. present touring in that area. His scores to date are 344, not out, 84, 155, not out, and 140, giving him a total of 723 runs and an average of 361.50 for two completed innings. Ileadley's performances over the last, couple of seasons give good cause for classing him with Australia's- wonder batsman, D. G. Bradman. The last. English team to visit the West Indies, a strong M.G'.C. side, also found difficulty in disposing of Hendley. In representative matches against the Englishmen his scores were 176,- in the first test, 114 and 112 in the third and 223 in the fourth. Besides the test matches he scored 64, 72 and 52 while representing Jamaica against the tourists, his total runs being 703 for eight i finings at an average of 87.87. The English team played 13 matches during this tour, winning four and losing two, while seven were drawn. • Hendley also showed fine form in Australia last season and, although not particularly consistent in the test matches, had two centuries to his credit, 102 not out in the third test, and 105 in the fourth test.
