"STRANGERS MAY KISS."
NEW FILM AT ST. JPMES'. Norma Shearer, described by one critic, as "(he most, decorative actress i?i films, returns to the light, sophisticated typo of role she interpreted in "The Divorcee and "Let Us Be Gay," in "Strangers May Kiss," to replace. "My Wife's I'anily at St. James' Theatre on Friday. Wonderful gowns and decisive mannerisms fit' Miss Shearer admirably for the part of the leading ladv, a character -which _ is something between the heroine of "J ho Divorcee" and "Let I's Be Clay. An English reviewer says: "Norma Shearer, exquisitely dressed, give-? a brilliant interpretation of Lisbeth. Ib is tine, emotional acting, 'i he honours of: the picture are almost stolen, howrver, by Robert Monlgonierv, whose pcriormance as the faithful and pleasantly tipsy lover is far and away the most delightful thing he has yet given us. Ned Hamilton s study of a masculine journalist adequately conforms to Hollywood's impression _ of the type." Other noted members of the oast are Marjorie Rambeau, a character actress, remembered for her fine work u "Min and Bill" and "The Secret Si:-"; and Irene Rich, a former heroine of I lie silent screen, who gave a fine mat roily porIraval in "The Champ." The !:lm was directed by George Fitzmaurice, who has a flair for artistic composition. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy nave become bv-words in the. realm of comedy. Their appearance in another mediumlengfh burlesque, "Beau Jlunks,' to lm presented with "Strangers May Kiss," will be welcomed by their legion of followers. An English critic say a: " r l ho very thought of Mr. Laurel a.id Mr. Haidv mas(pieradmg in a burlesque of the P. C. Wren type of story if enough to make their admirers chuckle delightedly. And they will not be disa| pointed. The popular pair have rarely brim more amusing. Hardy is a love-lon swain, driven abroad by a faithless woman, and Laurel, moro distrait than ever, goes with bun to help bim forget."
