The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An anti-cyclone covers New Zealand and the Tasman Sea. A tropicrl cyclono has been located today to the south-west of tho Tonga group. Indications are for light to moderate ami variable southerly winds prevailing .from Canterbury northward, freshening in tho northern and eastern "portions nf the North Island. Northerly south of Canterbury. Seas smooth to moderate generally, but considerable swell provable on the East Coast north of Kaikoura, Tn the eastern Tasman Sea, light vai ;able winds' and smooth to moderate seas. The weather will be fair to fine generally, but there will be some .isolated .bowers in the Auckland province. Cool night, but warm day temperatures will prevail. RAINFALL RECORD.
