RACING APPEAL.

CASE OF HECTOR GRAY. NOTICE BY STIPENDIARY. " DECISION UNSATISFACTORY." [I!Y TELEGRAPH.—I'KESS ASSOCIATION."] WELLINGTON, Monday. Mr. A. r. Wilson, chief stipendiary steward to the New Zealand Racing Conference, has, under Rule 57 of the Rules Racing, notified the executive committee of the conference that in his opinion the decision of the Auckland District Committee in upholding the appeal of II Gray in the Antique case is unsatisfactory. If the executive committee is satisfied the case merits further inquiry, it may now direct that Mr. Wilson's notification be referred to appeal judges a| pointed by the president, and be uealt with as an appeal from the decis'on of tho District Committee.

The judicial committee of the To Aroha Jockey Club, after an inquiry instituted by Mr. Wilson, stated it was satisfied that Antique was not run on his merits in the President's Handicap on February 29 and suspended Gray for three months. An appeal by Gray to the Auckland District Committee was upheld. Rule 57 states: " (1) The stipendiary steward, if in his opinion any decision given by the stewards, or judicial committee, in respect to any inquiry or investigation aforesaid, or any decision of a district committee (whether on appeal or otherwise), is unsatisfactory, shall notify the executive committee to that effect, and the executive committee, if satisfied that such decision should bo reviewed, may direct it to be refeiied to the body which, under these rules, would deal with an appeal from such decision. (2) Every such reference shall be deemed to be and be dealt with as an appeal against such decision as aforesaid, and the stipendiary steward shall be entitled to attend the "hearing thereof, and generally to take part in such proceedings as an appellant."
