ROTORUA.

At a meeting of the Rotorua branch of the Trained Nurses Association, held at King George V. Hospital last week, Miss Lam hie, Director of Nursing, gave a very interesting address on the activities of the association in New Zealand, and emphasised the great benefit it was to the trained nurse. Miss Searell, vice president, presided. Among those present wore:—Mrs. Thomson. Miss Mitchell, Miss Andrews, Miss Gordon, Miss Mactier, Miss Harris, Miss Quigley, Miss Stanton, Miss Wilkinson, Miss 1* ergusson, Miss Moon, Miss Mellat, Miss Petersen, Miss Gould, .Miss Brown.

A most enjoyable kitchen evening was given at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Holland on Friday for Miss Jean Giesen, in honour of her approaching marriage. r I lie gathering was arranged by the girl friends of Miss Giesen, who wore a frock of navy and beige figured ninon. Mrs. Holland received the guests wearing a frock of sapphire chiffon velvet. Dancing took place in the drawing room, which was decorated with mauve and pink asters. In the ping pong room large bowls of bronze and red dahlias and vases of marigolds were attractively arranged. A competition was won by Miss Doria Griffiths and a ping pong tournament bv Mrs. G. Marshall and Mr. R. G. Webb.
