TOTALISATOR INCIDENT.
FORGED TICKETS PRESENTED. ADMISSION BY LABOURER. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Monday. A labourer, Robert Jolly, aged 62. pleaded guilty in the Police Court to-dav to a charge of attempting to cash five £1 forged totalisator tickets at Wingatui on February 11. A totalisator clerk stated that he thought the tickets were genuine at first and stamped them. He then noticed that the tickets did not appear in order, and asked accused to wait. Ho discovered that the tickets were forgeries, and returning found that accused had gone.
The police stated that accused was quite frank and rendered assistance in the matter. Others were implicated in the forging of the tickets.
Accused was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence.
