SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP.
WORLD'S TITLE REGAIN/ED. WIN FOR AUSTRALIAN RUNNER. The annual ' contest for the professional sprint championship of the world was held in Melbourne on Saturday evening, when T. Banner, New South Wales, regained the title he originally took back to Australia from England in 1925. The championship has been won by an Australian each year since then. The holder of tho championship. A. Robinson, did not compete, acting on medical advice. Following are the results of the throe races which constitute the championship:— 100 Yards. —F. Ralph. 1; T. Banner, 2; M. Dunn, 3. Time, 10 l-ss. 130 Yards.—T. Banner. 1; F. Ralph. 2: C. O'Neil. 3. Time, 12 15-10s. 220 Yards.—T. Banner. 1; C. O'Neil. 2: F. Ralph. 3. Time. 225. . The points awarded for places in the three races are:- —First, 9; second, 3; third, 2; fourth, 1.
