ATTEMPT UPON QUEEN'S LIFE.
The following are extracts from the New Zealand Herald of March 15, 1882:
Tho Queen has addressed a letter to Sir William Vernon Harcourt, Home Secretary, in which Her Majesty states that she has been greatly touched by the en* thusiastic loyalty, affection and devotion to her person as shown by the congratulations upon her escape from the recent attempt on hex life. Her Majesty tenders the heartiest and warmest thanks to the highest and humblest of her subjects, and states that she will continue increasing efforts to uphold the honour and glo'7 of her dear country and maintain t" e prosperity and happiness of- lier people.
