ANNUAL PICNICS HELD.

RAILWAY OFFICERS' OUTING.

Ideal weather favoured the picnic held by the Auckland branch of the Railway Officers' Institute at Waiuku on Sunday. A number o£ local townspeople gathered to welcome the visitors.

A programme of sports for both children and adults was conducted, the results being:—Boys' race, 14 to 17: L. Clark, 1; F. Sharp, 2. Girls' race, 14 to 17: M. Halloran, 1; J. Armour, 2. Single ladies: C. Reunie, 1; M. Hatrick, 2. Married ladies: Mrs. Ward. 1; Mrs. Wylie. 2. Men's championship: A. E. Kerrisk, 1; A. J. Ryall, 2. Open handicap: A. Coburn, 1; H. R. Phillips, 2. Teams' relay race. Walker ancf Hall Cup:* Ryall. Fennell, Parker and Clark. 1. Three-legged race (lady and gentleman): A. Coburn and Miss Halloran, 1: J. McGuire and Miss Parkinson, 2. Inter-branch tug-o'-war. silver cup presented by City Dairy: Traffic Branch (Slessrs. Mouat, Hambling, Pye, McGrail, Knight and Andrews), 1. AKARANA YACHT CLUB. The Akarana Yacht Club held its annual picnic at Motuihi at the week-end. There was .a, large gathering of members and friends, no fewer than 39 boats being anchored off the bay.
