POLICE COURT NEWS.
CONVICTION OF. VAGRANT. A charge of being idle and disorderly through having no lawful means of support was made against a bootmaker, William James Catchfield, aged 60, in the Police Court yesterday. " Accused was found sleeping in a petrol store," said Detective Sergeant Kelly. "Ho had a laige number of assorted cigarette butts on him." Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, .Captain Holmes of the Salvation Army offering to admit him to the men's home. Pleading not guilty to a charge of unlawful carnal knowledge of a. girl under the age of 16, George Brittain, aged 37, <i cleaner, was committed t'> the Supremo Court loi' trial. Bail or £IOO was granted.
