PATIENTS IN HOSPITAL.
BOARDS IN THE NORTH.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] "WHANGAREI, Monday.
The Whangarei Hospital Board to-day received a protest from the Bay of Islands Hospital Board that it vras being made unnecessarily easy for Bay of Islands patients to gain admittance to the Whangarei Hospital, with a subsequent claim for fees at enhanced rates. Three cases were quoted. The secretary, Mr. J. H. Warwick, said one patient became ill suddenly while in Whangarei and the other two had given false Whangarei addresses. Mr. W. Jones said he resented the tone of tho letter and it was not the policy of tho Whangarei board to take patients from outside districts.
Mr. J. -A. S. Mackay said that apparently the efficiency of the Whangarei Hospital was so well known that ontsido patients wanted to gain admittance. The secretary was instructed to writ© informing the Bay of Islands board of the true position.
