Mr. Harvey Turner returned to Auckland by the Tofua yesterday after a short business visit to Suva.

Mr. John R. Robertson, of the Railways Department, Wellington, has been appointed a member of the Government Railways Appeal Board.

Mr. D. Carter, Auckland manager of the Union Steam Ship Company, and Mrs. Carter returned bv the Tofua yesterday from a holiday trip to the Islands.
Mr. D. Reese. a member of the Railways Board, underwent an operation at Lewisham Private Hospital, Christchurch last, week. He is reported to be making satisfactory progress.
Mr. F. B. Spencer, of Sydney. Mr. A. S. Leigh, of Melbourne. Mr. I. T. Kaya. of China, and Mr. R. H. Ellis Mr. A. W. Duncan and Mr. W. H. Norwood, of Wellington, are at the Grand Hotel. -
Mr. A. Woods, of Shanghai, arrived at Auckland by the Tofua yesterday. He has been spending a holiday in the Pacific Islands and will leave for Australia on Friday, en route for China. He is at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. R. Denny, collector of customs at Nukualofa, and Mrs. Denny arrived at Auckland by the Tofua yesterday. Tney are passing through New Zealand on their way to spend a holiday in Scotland, and are at the Hotel Cargen.
Mr. C. E. Forrest, of Sydney, Mr. T. A. Black, Mr. P. E. Clark and Mr. L. S. Jewell, of Christchurch, Mr. H. Randell and Mr. A. Sinirn. of Wellington. Mr. F. G. Smith, of Napier, and Mr. E. P. Duncan, of Taihape, are at the Central Hotel.
Mr. W. G. Mander, who has been manager of the Union Steam Ship Company's Suva branch, and has been transferred to the managership of the Timaru branch, arrived at Auckland by the Tofua yesterday. He was accompanied by Mrs Mander and their familv.
