CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAYS.
SUGGESTED ECONOMIES. SAVING OF £IO,OOO EXPECTED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —TRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. A comprehensive report, making proposals for further economies in the operation of the Christchurch tramways, has been prepared by tho general manager. The saving in the current year is expected to amount to £IO,OOO. The report reviews the whole system and suggests measures which, if adopted, would avoid the necessity of a rate being struck. It deals fully with the possibilities of extending the use of one-man trams, and trolley buses on a number of routes.
