UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT.

CANCELLATION POSSIBLE. CANTERBURY RECOMMENDATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCIIURCn, Sunday. It is possible thafc the annual university tournament, which was this year to have been held at Wellington at Easter, may be cancelled owing to recent announcements which are affecting students financially in many ways. The Canterbury College tournament committee, at an emergency meeting held on Saturday, decided to make a recommendation to the executive of the Students' Association that the holding of the Easter tournament be suspended until further notice.

It was decided to ascertain from the tournament, committees of the Auckland, Victoria and Otago Colleges whether tlicy agreed. The decision was not caused wholly by the announcement of the Economy Commission's proposals. It is still possible, however, that a university athletic meeting may be arranged instead of the full tournament.
