EXPENSIVE HOBBY.
COLLECTION OF BUTTERFLIES DEATH OF MR. J. J. JOICEY. LONDON. March 11.' Mr. James John Joiccy, who has just died, possessed the second largest private collection of butterflies in the world. It is reported that the number is 1,500,000. He had been spending £7OOO to £IO.OOO a year and had agents in all parts of the world.
This collection was possible because Mr. Joicey was the son of a millionaire, but this hobby once brought him to the Bankruptcy Court, where it was stated he could not live on £20,000 a year. lie started his hobby 40 years ago. It is expected that his collection will be found to have been bequeathed to the nation.
