WOMEN'S DIVISION.
FARMERS' UNION. At. the monthly meeting of the Fukckawa branch of tho Women's Division, Farmers' Union, presided over by flic president, Mrs. M. Orr, an interesting address was given by tho Government Apiary Instructor, Mr. G. V. "Westbrooke. Tho subject was " Beekeeping for Women," and Mr. Westbrooke said that to the woman who had a liking for bees and was not unduly nervous, the keeping of a hive or two could, wlieu properly looked •after, make a healthy and profitable hobby. Honey was now recognised by leading medical men as one of the healthiest foods it was possible to cat and he gave instances where wonderful results were obtained when children suffering from malnutrition wore fed on milk and honey.
After a most, interesting account was given of tho inmates of tho hive, tho meeting adjourned to tho apiary, where practical instruction was given in Finding the queen bee. " rcqueenirig" and extracting. Visitors present from Onowhero were Mrs. 11. Dyer, Mrs. J. Henderson and tho Misses Dyer. Afternoon tea concluded a most enjoyable meeting.
