ELLERSLIE TRAINING.
GOOD GALLOPS RECORDED. FAST FIVE BY MANAWHENUA. PURIRI PARK'S SOUND MILE. Conditions wore perfect for training operations at Ellerslie on Saturday, when some very interesting gallops wero recorded. With Hie exception of two gallops on the course proper, where the flags wero out '2oft., all the fust work was accomplished on the No. 1 grass. Both tracks provided excellent going and the times recorded were generally good. On the course proper Putin Park (Parsons) finished, just ahead of. Cntonia (FergUH), with Tuneriri (Chaplin) several lengths back at I lie conclusion' of a. mile in 1.4-2 2-5. a good gallop. The first half-mile was run in 50s and the second in 52 2-ss: Puriri Park went well and the gallop directed attention to his prospects in the Paeroa Clip next Thursday. Billy Boy and Town Beauty were superior to General Lu over a round in 2.11 1-5. Billy Boy is thriving on his work and should he a better horse this year than at any time previously. On the No. I grass Sir Mond encompassed a round in 1.52 2-5. being accompanied over the last half-mile in 50 l-5s by Air La?sie. Sir Mood's gallop was a good one and, although he hu3 had plenty of lacing in the past few months, he is displaying more vim than he has for some time past.
Manawhenua, lightly-weighted, easily defeated Hampton Park over fivo furlongs in I.J 1-5. Manawhenua's time was good in spile of the fact, that ho did not carry a ureal deal of weight, lie is rapidly regaining his best form-and should be profitable to follow in his next few starts. Great Emblem was responsible for a solid effort in running six furlongs in I.IG 4-5, tho first three in 37 4-ss. Great Emblem is maintaining his improvement and, although he has had some hard racing in the past couple of months, ho is full of vigour and thriving splendidly. Other gallops recorded on the No. 1 grass were as follows:—Four furlongs: Golden Spahi and Good Idea, 51 l-ss; Hawthorn and Bright Flower, 51 l-ss; Moorifleet and liady Carrington, 525. Six furlongs: Karangapai and Ornamental, 1.10 3-6; Vilma, 1.18 1-5; Desert' Star, 1.21 4-5; Cynthia N., 1.10 2-5; Corinax and Thespis, 1.23 2-5. Once round: Grand Spirit, 2.0 3-5j Operatic and Psychologist, 1.5-1 4-5. On tho tan Imamint was timed to run five furlongs in 1.6 3-5, and Vandyke jilaced six furlongs behind in 1.21 2-5. High Finance (11. Dulieu) and Full Measure (Chaplin) went fast over four hurdles, both jumping well. Clareniore (L. Dulieu) gave a good display over four hurdles. J. C. Lambess is giving Clareniore plenty of solid work and his charge seems to be thriving on it.
