TRENTHAM TRACK-WORK. THIS WEEK'S MEETING. AUTOPAY IN GOOD ORDER. [ FROM Ol'R OWN* CORRESPONDENT. 1 WELLINGTON, Saturday. There is not a great deal of activity on Trentham tracks at the present time and so far the only visitor for the meeting next week is Earthquake. The grass tracks and course proper are extremely hard and a good heavy fall of rain prior to the meeting would do a lot of good. I'or training purposes the plough has been in exclusive use for some time. It provides good ground to gallop on and this morning, with watering. it was not so fast as usual. J. W. Lowe, who has always been the earliest bird at Trentham, works while it is still dark—too dark to see and time properly. This morning ho gave Red Sun and Normandy separate gallop 3. Both aro in good order after their recent racing in tho North.
Weatjierstep, who is consistently the best worker so far as time goes, galloped brilliantly with Autopay over five furlongs in 1.2 1-5. tjie last hajf in 495. She was going just as well as Autopay at the finish and if she runs up to track-work on the day (the should bo a, winner. Autopay is much more settled in his manner since going into C. Pritcliard's stable. He gives no trouble at all and i 3 working and looking well. He has been accepted for ill both tlio Thompson and Railway Handicaps, but it_ is likely that his mission will be the spunt. in which he will be ridden by H. Gray. S. Reid is now beginning to give Historic some stronger work, and ho stretched out well over a couple of rounds. Historic looks very bright and well antl does not appear very far fry in lus best. He will leap pear at the Manawatu meeting next "Tjold Sand is in Keid's charge while .T McLaughlin is in Sydney, Una marc ha. improved and is working well. ilei live furlongs in 1.0! this morning was done unrlfi* a very strong pull. The two-year-old colt Might has gone on in he right way -inco lie opened his winnnc account at Woodville. He was much too good for Clangor over five his niornug in M, the last four in 501s and he could have done much heifer time. # Waratali is a hack with prospects of picki J„p a race shortly. .He worked we 1 with St Roger over five in 1.31. Late Jest, • V« snme stable just broke 50s for four. , n the being put mfo ra e Tobaecolnnf ] n ever looked better and he has always, raced best Wl over four in 51s. He has Cimanue i. „, 5V tasks being "sdiiSTn-, i... recovery.
