VALUATIONS IN CITY.

RATEPAYERS' OBJECTIONS. ASSESSMENT COURT TO-DAY. The Assessment Court -will commence a sitting this morning to consider objections fry ratepayers to the valuation of their properties by the City Council for the current year. Thft council has received 1328 objections, but some of th« cases have already heen settled, whila offers in others are under consideration. It is usually found that many ratepayers who enter objections do not appear before the Court, thß cases being allowed to lapse. Among the objections are a large number from owners of Queen Street and other city business premises, "but the proportion of city properties to suburban residential properties is not higher than normal, as the total number of objections is greater than for some years pastIt is expected that the Court will require to sit for three days. Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., will preside.
