The Tauranga County Council, at its last meeting, decider! to contribute toward llio cost of the appeal lodged by tlie Waitemata County Council against, tlie judgment in the. case against tlie Waitcmnta Electric Power Board regarding the cost of removal of power poles in (lie construction of main highways. The council accepted the tender of Messrs. Bray and Company, of £554 for tar-sealing a section of the main highway at Judea, adjoining the borough boundary. The clerk reported that a certain number of selections had been opened up and granted by the Lands Department. Approximately 720 applications had been made for rate rebates and refunds in respect of the allowance made under the Finance Act, 1931. The amount involved is about £660.
