TWO WOMEN IMPRISONED.
DETECTED AT SHOPLIFTING. DISREGARD OF WARNINGS. Pleas of guilty to charges of shoplifting were entered by two young married women when they appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday. Doris .Adelia Marshall, aged 25, was charged with stealing two frocks valued at £6 9s from a Karangahape Road store, and a nightdress valued at 13s 6d frorrfa city warehouse, and Veronica Busliell, aged 22, with stealing two dresses valued at £6 12s 6d and a suit of pyjamas valued at lis 4d from the same stores. Detective-Sergeant T. Kelly said the two women were detected stealing in the Karangahape Road premises on Friday evening. When they were questioned about the articles found in their possession they admitted that the nightdress and the pyjamas were taken from a city warehouse. There was no necessity for the accused to steal. The women had no children. The magistrate s aid sufficient warnings against, shoplifting had been given in the past, and the women had disregarded them. Eacfi of the accused was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment for stealing from the Karangahape Road store and admitted to probation for six months on the second charge.
