SCHOOL DENTAL CLINICS.

PARENTS' RESPONSIBILITY. NEED TO SUPPORT SERVICE. " There is no doubt that the dental clinic scheme in schools can he carried on in Auckland, provided that school committees receive the full support of the parents of children," stated Mr. F. B. Rice, dental superintendent in the Auckland district, on Saturday, referring to the difficulties at present confronting the system. Regarding a statement that there was serious danger of the collapse of the system, Mr. Rice said the cost of the service to, the Government had had to be restricted, and the section of the public directly benefiting from the clinics had been asfred last year to make a. larger contribution. Mr. Rice said it depended upon the co-operation of parents whether the service would be continued in a district. It appeared that many parents were not thoroughly acquainted with the position, which made it necessary for the controlling committee to provido the funds nocessary to conduct a clinic. Mr. Rice understood that some committees had experienced difficulty in collecting the necessary amount. "This seemed to bo the case particularly in Auckland, and it should be understood by parents that the conduct of clinics actually depcnrlod on their support.
