BRISK COMPETITION. FIRM TONE OF MARKET. - LONDON, March 11. At the London wool sales to-day, 9415 bales were offered, including 3876 from Ne\# Zealand, and about 3798 were sold. There was » brisk home trade and Confinental competition, and the tone of market was firm. The price of gold to-day is £5 16s 8d an oz., compared with £5 13s 8d yesterday, and £5 12s 3d on Thursday. GOOD DEMAND FOR LAMBS. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following report from its London office as at the close of business last week Wethers: The market is quiet and unchanged. Ewes: The market is more active. Lambs: Present demand is good and likely to continue. The market is firmer for lighter-weights and steady for heavies. Wethers, light, 4gd to 4gd per lb.; heavv, 3§d to 4^d; ewes, 2gd to 3jjd; lambs, twos, 6Jd to 6-fd; eights, 6gd to 6gd; fours, 6|d to 6£d; seconds, t>4«l to 6id. LONDON DAIRY VALUES. PRODUCE BOARD'S REPORT. Tha New Zealand Dairy Produce Board hag received the following n ;'et report from its London office, dated March 11, 1932, prices for the previous week being given in parentheses:— Butter. —New Zealand, salted, 110s to 112s (108s to 110s); unsalted, 114 s to 118s (114s to 118s) ; 110s to 112s equals approximately llfd f.0.b.; first whey, 102s (104s); second whey, 100s (102s). Deliveries, New Zealand,'l6so tons; in store, 3800 tons. Australian, salted, 104s to 107s (103s to 106s); unsalted, 106s to 110s (106s to 110s). Deliveries, Australian, 3043 tons: in store, 2733 tons. Argentine, unsalted, 104s to 110s (106s to 110s). Danish, 107s f.o.b. (118s); 128s spot. (136s to 140s). The market is quiet. Retail prices unchanged. Neiv Zealand, Is 2d; Danish, Is 4d. The Empire Marketing Board's estimated stocks of all butters are 358,109 boxes, compared with 266,695 boxes last year. Italy has increased the duty on l*itter to 250 lira per 'IOO kilos. Switzerland has reduced the duty by 30 francs to 150 francs per 100 kilos, but imposing quota from April 1. France has increased the import quota for March quarter a further 1200 tons to 3600 tons. Export of imports from London to the Continent is negligible. Germany is buying little, owing to difficulty of securing foreign exchange. Danish exports have not cleared this week, the offering being 102s to 104s f.o.b. The recent high prices of Danish butter stimulated northern demand for box butter. Cheese. —New Zoaland, white, 61s to 62 s (60s to 61s); coloured, 62s to 63s (61s to 635); deliveries, New Zealand, 21,796 crates; in store, 75,318 crates. Canadian, white, 68s to 72s (68s to 745); coloured, 68s to 72s {6Bs to 725). Deliveries, Canadian, 5083 boxes; in store, 122,617 boxes. The market is quiet. New Zealand retail price, Bd. The. board has also received the following .vlvice from its agents in Canada: — Butter, New York, 22| cents; Montreal, 25 cents.

LOCAL MERCHANTS' REPORTS. The New Zealand Producers' Co-opera-tive Marketing Association, Limited, has received the following report from its London office, dated March 11:—Butter : New Zealand, 110s to Ills; unsalted, 114s to 118s; Danish, 128s. Cheese White, 61s to 625; coloured, 62s to 635. The market for both butter and cheese is quiet. A. H. Turnbull and Company, Limited, is in receipt of the following advice from it« principals, Messrs. W. -Weddel and Company, Limited, dated 'London, March 11: —Danish butter, 128s; New Zealand, finest salted butter, 110s to 112s; Australian, salted butter, 104s to 107s; New Zealand cheese, white, 61s to 625; coloured, 62a to 635.
