COMBATING FIRE.

tauranga water supply. IMPROVEMENT RECOMMENDED. [FROM Otm OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TAURANGA, Saturday. -'The question of improving the water supply should be considered' by the Borough Council at the earliest possible moment, and the brigade should be sup plied with a fire pump," said the Inspector of Fire Brigades in his report to the Tauranga Fire Board. Tho board decided that provision should be made on the estimates for tho purchase of a fire pump and for two additional call boxes. The estimates for the ensuing year were passed with the exception of the financial arrangements dealing with the purchase of the pump. Mr. H. Clay, Auckland, was unanimously re-elected chairman for the fourth consecutive term. The chairman reported that during the past year the brigade had received only three calls <o rubbish fires, but no property fires had occurred. The a (tendances at brigade practices had been excellent.
